about me
As a psychotherapist in private practice for over 15 years, I have had the opportunity to help many people and families. I am passionate about helping others and see it as a privilege for patients to trust me with their struggles and pain. (For more information on my approach to psychotherapy, please visit the My Approach page.)
Upon graduating from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work in 2006, I followed my mission to help children and families by working as an in-home family therapist. As a part of the Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Program for Bergen County’s Division of Family Guidance, I provided counseling to families with adolescents engaging in high-risk behaviors such as criminal behavior, aggression, substance use, truancy and parent/child conflict. My efforts resulted in reducing or eliminating the problem behaviors, improving the parent/child relationship, enhancing the overall functioning of the family and preventing adolescents from out-of-home placement.
In 2011, I was appointed Supervisor for the Juvenile Family Crisis Intervention Unit (JFCIU) for Bergen County’s Division of Family Guidance. This county-wide program helped adolescents in behavioral and/or emotional crisis and was frequently the first time these families received counseling. Similar to my work in the MST program, I worked with families in severe conflict and navigated many individual, familial, and systemic barriers to improve adolescent and family outcomes. Following four years of running the JFCIU, including providing community trainings on parent/child conflict, human trafficking, suicide and truancy, I moved to another one of Bergen County’s Department of Human Services programs.
In 2015, Bergen County’s Division of Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV) hired me to be the Clinical Program Director. As the clinical director of Bergen County’s co-lead domestic violence program and the most comprehensive domestic violence program in New Jersey that serves both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, I administered ADV’s crisis intervention, group counseling, individual counseling and hotline programs. In addition to managing, I personally provided all direct services to DV victims and perpetrators. During my tenure at ADV I installed the nationally renowned Duluth Model batterer’s intervention program as well as EMDR therapy to help victims of trauma and PTSD.
