My Approach
Psychotherapist
A foundational philosophy of my clinical work is the belief that all of us are doing the best we can every single day, even if we are struggling. In fact, especially if we are struggling. Up until now you have been coping the best you can. No one wants to feel pain, worry, anxiety, depression or shame. No one wants to think that they are unimportant, unworthy, or unloveable. No one wants to behave in a way that prevents him or her from feeling satisfied or fulfilled personally, interpersonally and professionally. Yet struggling, doubts and distress are all part of the human condition. But that does not mean we are fated to remain in that place.
People come to therapy because something is not working in the present. There are always reasons why we feel, think and behave the way we do. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I will help you to generate insight into why you feel and think (and act) the way you do. Patients feel a sense of relief when they start to see that there is an explanation for their symptoms and they understand that there is not something “wrong” with them. A surge of self-acceptance and self-appreciation occurs which enables the individual to identify changes he or she wants and needs in order to improve his or her life.
